BUTTOCKS AUGMENTATION
INTRODUCTION
The objective of the operation is to enhance the shape and volume of the
buttocks. The aim is a natural curve and volume, with a smooth transition to
the waist and the hips. There are two forms to achieve it:
-With silicone prosthesis which are oval and semisolids, not rigids.
-With fat (lipostructure)
ANESTHESIA
Epidural or general
TECHNIQUE
Implant
Through an incision on the zone of coxis (in the fold between the
buttocks) a pocket is dissected under the greater gluteus muscle. The implant
is placed in the upper half of the buttock, to avoid injury to the great
sciatic nerve.
Lipostructure
Fat is obtained from liposuction of zones like hips, abdomen, back. This
fat properly prepared is injected in multiple tunnels forming like an internal
web. It is had to inject between 30-50% more volume of required, given some
resorption is expected. The intervention takes longer than in the case of
implants.
POSTOPERATIVE
Relative rest is recommended during 2-3 day. Restarting normal work
depends on the technique. For implants usually it reccomended after 7-15 day.
After lipostructure it can be sooner. In the case of the prosthesis it is
necessary to avoid certain types of physical exercise during 4-6 weeks.
Muscular injections are to be avoides if implants are chosen.
The potential problems of implants are:
-Hematoma
-Infection
-Extrusion of the prosthesis
-Capsular contracture (hardening around the prosthesis)
-Displacement.
In the case of fat infiltration:
-Hematoma
-Infection
-Reabsortion
-Asymmetries
