LIPECTOMIES

The operation of lipectomy is not very often done nowadays. Most of fat excess are solved by liposuction alone. At this moment lipectomies are performed when there is a great cutaneous flaccidity, that would not respond to liposuction, or after great thinnings in which there is a great excess of skin. The main disadvantage of these surgeries is the resulting scar. Although we try to locate them in little visible zones or that can be hidden by the clothes, usually they are long scars. The patient  has to decide if the benefit of having a smooth skin is superior to the scar left.

CRURAL LIPECTOMY OF LIFTING

The goal is to improve the inner aspect of the thigh. The operation can be done under epidural anesthesia.

In the first place a liposuction is performed to remove as much fat as possible and to loose the skin. The excess of skin is removed and the skin is lifted up to the inguinal  and thigh fold, at the origin of the thigh.

 LIFTING OF THIGHS AND BUTTOCKS

The goal of this operation is to tighten the anterior, lateral and posterior aspects of the thigh. The scar is placed to be concealed by the lingerie. Sometimes follows an abdominoplasty performed months before.

The anesthesia is general.

BRACHIOPLASTY (ARMS)

Liposuction is not effective if there is much flaccidity and the skin hangs.

The resulting scar goes from the armpit to the elbow. In some cases we can avoid this scar by performing two stages: in the first one a liposuction is done and the skin is allowed to contract. After 3-6 months the excess of skin is removed in a similar way to crural lifting, leaving a single scar within the armpit.
